More than 50 civilian houses were burned down by the military council’s troops which advanced towards Kadae village in Palaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, the information officer of Myeik District Battalion-1 told the Than Lwin Times.
On 16 February 16, a military column of more than 200 soldiers burned down civilian houses after advancing towards Kadae village.
After torching more than 400 houses in Kadae village, the military column left the village on the evening of February 17. The military column looted valuables.
Fighting may intensify as the military column which left the village on the morning of February 18, prepared for military operation against the People’s Defense Force (PDF) camps, said an information officer of Myeik District Battalion-1.
On 16 February, the military council troops which advanced towards Kadae village raided a frontline camp of the PDF and seized guns, vehicles, uniforms and related materials.
Military council’s telegram channels said that 13 people including staff detained by the PDFs in the Kadae village battle were rescued. However, the PDF said there are no people being detained in Kadae village.
Since the second week of February, fighting between the military council troops and the PDFs has intensified in Palaw Township where martial law is imposed, resulting in casualties.
