The military council has released 11 residents of Kanpauk village tract in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, three of whom remain in detention, locals told Than Lwin Times.

On February 2, regime soldiers reportedly took 11 people from the Mawrawadi naval base back to their homes. Those released include Ko Akar Man, U Tun Shein, Daw Pu, Daw Khin Swe Latt, U Maung Maung, Daw Mar Yi, Daw Cho Latt, Daw Cho Aung, Daw Mi San Tin, Daw Ni Ni and U San Win.

The locals were arrested by junta soldiers after Kan Pauk village administrator U Khin Soe and his subordinate U Hla Htay and former administrator U Aye Han were shot by members of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) on January 25.

Since their arrest, regime soldiers had interrogated the locals for more than a week until they were released. Three others-Ko Min Min, Ma Layti Hpwa, alias Thi Gyi Soe, and Daw Mi San-remained detained at the Mawrawadi naval base.

Following the killing of three pro-military individuals, including a junta-appointed administrator, the military council reportedly restricted the riding of motorcycles, causing difficulties for locals.
