Clash reported in Rihkhawdar in Falam Township

There was an exchange of gunfire between the military council troops and an unknown armed group in Rihkhawdar border town on the India-Myanmar border camp in Falam Township of Chin State, at around 9 am on January 17.

The unknown armed group fired shots at the military council troops stationed on the hill at No.2 ward in Rihkhawdar. In response, the military council troops carried out indiscriminate artillery shelling.

The heavy shells fired by the military council fell on the cargo handling committee office, wounding a child.

Then he was sent to the hospital. Now he is not in a critical condition, according to locals.

The Assam Rifles Force detained two unknown attackers who fled to India by crossing the Tio River after attacking the military council camp, along with explosives, according to locals.

Due to the military council’s artillery shelling, the people from No.2 ward fled to Zokhawthar village in Mizoram State. Now the situation has returned to normalcy.
