The Chin National Organization/ Chin National Defence Force (CNO/CNDF) issued a statement dated January 11, calling for a total ban on the planned election which may help the military council become a legitimate government, in Falam Township of Chin State and the upper Chindwin area.
This statement came after the second conference of the CNO held at the headquarters of the CNDF, in Chinram, Camp Rihli from January 6 to 9.
“We totally ban the election to be held by the military council which is committing brutal killings of unarmed civilians, intentional burning of civilian houses, attacks on the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) with the use of excessive forces and airstrikes. The CNO/CNDF will take stern actions against any persons who help the military council hold the elections, according to the statement.
The CNO/CNDF said it will fight till the end together with the revolutionary forces in order to root out the military dictatorship, build up the Chin national state and to ensure the emergence of a federal democratic union.
The four-day conference was attended by 90 people—60 delegates and around 30 observers.
The conference covers the submission of annual reports and activities by respective brigades and battalions of the CNDF, the submission of financial reports and review of one-year undertakings and the discussion of future processes.
In addition, the conference adopted the policies on the duty-sharing between four brigades and war office, demarcation of territories, monetary management policies, designation of red letter days and becoming a reliable force by designating the military court at brigade, war office and defense council levels for action taken against the rule and regulation and military code of conduct.
