The military council reportedly carried out drone bombardments in a village east of Demoso Township in Karenni (Kayah) State around 10 am on 10 December, causing significant damage to a house.
“They came and dropped the first bombs around 11:30 am. They dropped the bombs directly on the house. But no one was injured. About five artillery shells also landed in the village and exploded. The residents had to put out the fire,” an eyewitness said.
Locals said about five 81-mm artillery shells from the regime’s Light Infantry Battalion-427 stationed in Demoso also landed in the same village.
The Myanmar army has been conducting reconnaissance flights with drones since the beginning of the armed conflict with the local Karenni defense forces. Since November 2022, the regime forces have begun conducting bombing raids with drones.
Khu Daniel, deputy defense minister of the Karenni state government, told the Karenni state-based Kantarawaddy Times news agency that the military council may deploy more bombing drones to attack resistance forces in Karenni State.
