The military council bombed the No.6 lead mining site near Mae Kathar village in Payathonzu Township, Doopalaya District in Karen State which is administered by the Karen National Union (KNU) in Karen state with fighter jets for the fourth time.
The regime’s air force used fighter jets to conduct airstrikes on the mining site unprovoked at around 12:40 am on November 30. The bombing damaged houses and injured people, said a resident close to the incident.
“They came and bombed the No. 6 lead mine around 12:40 am with two fighter jets. One of them flew over the roof. The other was a little further away. I heard there were many casualties,” he told the Karen Information Center (KIC).
Despite reports of regime bombing of the mine, the KIC was unable to independently verify the matter.
Also on the night of November 15, the military council bombed the Thabyu mining site for the first time unprovoked with a fighter jet, killing three miners and injuring six others. Among the injured, according to the KNU, was a Chinese national.
The junta carried out airstrikes on the same mining site for the second time on November 21 and the third time on November 25.
A similar incident also occurred on October 6, when four regime aircraft bombed Mae Kathar Pariyatti Monastery without any fighting at the time, destroying the entire monastery.
