BGF vehicle and stimulant tablets seized in Karenni State

A Karenni combined orce detained six members of the Border Guard Force (BGF) and seized around 2,000 stimulant tablets and arms from a vehicle, near Parlaung village in Loikaw Township in Karenni State at around 5 pm on November 30.

A combined force of the Karenni Army (KA) and the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) arrested a vehicle which left Loikaw to Shardaw to supply rations for the military council troops.

Khu Daniel, Deputy Defense Minister for the Karenni State government said: “They (BGF) plan to transport rations from Loikaw to Parlaung and then to Ponchaung. Their camp is located in Ponchaung. In fact, they planned to transport rations to Shardaw,”

The military usually transports rations to its troops via Shan State. However, the military plans to transport rations via Loikaw.

“According to the decision made by military officials, Six BGF members and seized a vehicle and arms have been transferred to the Karenni State Police (KSP). The KSP is duty-bound to keep them in jail. The administrative body will charge them under the Convention on the Prisoners of War and the Drug Law,” Khu Daniel says.

In the last week of November, there were intense clashes between the military council and the Karenni defense forces in Parlaung village.

Till December 2, the military council soldiers remain in Parlaung. Fighting may erupt anytime, according to the statement by the defense forces.
