A combined force of the Karenni defense forces attacked the military council troops stationed in Thaysulae village in Demoso Township with heavy weapons and drones, according to the statements by respective defense forces.

The combined force attacked the junta troops from 6 am to 8.30 am October 17. One junta soldier was killed in the fighting and some others injured.

“I cannot say exactly the casualties. I can surely say that one soldier was killed in the fighting. A sniper from Battalion-6 fired a shot at the head of a soldier. Heavy shells fired by our force landed on the junta troops. The heavy shelling may hit at least more than five soldiers,” an official of the KNDF Battalion-6 said.

A combined force of the Battalion-5 and 6 of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), the Karenni Army (KA), the central command and the Karenni Revolution Union (KRU) carried out a joint attack on the junta troops in Karenni State.

An official of the KNDF Battalion-6 said: “Our shootings were ineffective as we had to use small arms. The military suffers heavy casualties as we can use heavy shells. The use of heavy shells has many advantages. They suffer heavy losses. We have a lot of advantages.”

The Demoso- People’s Defense Force (DMO-PDF) yesterday announced that it attacked the military council troops stationed on the top of a four storey building in Dawngankhar village in Demoso Township, at 9 am on October 18. The fighting took place for one hour. Two junta soldiers were killed in the fighting. In the fighting, the military council also fired heavy shells.

Fighting is taking place between the military council and the Karenni defense forces in Karenni State, almost every day.

The defense forces have called on locals not to return to their homes as the military council has planted the landmines in some conflict-hit townships in Demoso Township, and the military operations by the defense forces face difficulties.

On October 11, a combined force’s drone dropped bombs on the military council’s Ponchaung base camp between Loikaw Township and Shardaw Township. The military council’s casualties cannot be formed, according to the KNDF’s statement on October 14.

More than 57 clashes were reported in late September, where Demoso Township accounted for 18 times, according to the KNDF’s statement on October 2.
