Military council forces fired from the air and sea in Minbya Township in Arakan State on the morning and afternoon of September 27th without any fighting. Six people were injured, including a four-year-old child, and nine houses were damaged, residents reported.

The incident occurred in Hpa Laung Pyin, Khaung Laung Chaung and Sat Ka Yay villages in Minbya Township.

On September 27th, heavy artillery shells fired by junta troops landed and exploded in Hpa Laung Pyin at around 12:30 pm. In the incident, an 18-year-old boy named Maung Kyaw Naing Oo (hit in the back) and a four-year-old girl named Ma Nan Li (hit in the arm) were injured and houses were also damaged, villagers said.

The houses of U Kyaw Than Maung and U Maung Tun Tin in the village were also damaged by the military regime’s artillery fire, another resident reported.

“The injuries are not serious. I think the heavy artillery was fired from the area around May Taw Hill. I am sure it did not come from a motorized barge,” he said.

In a similar incident, junta forces fired light and heavy weapons from the air and from the motorized barge at around 8:30am, 10am and 2:40pm, damaging a house in Khaung Laung Chaung village, a villager said.

“They [junta forces] fired from a barge coming from Sittwe at around 10pm. They also fired from the motorized barge and naval vessels. Around noon, they fired continuously with light and heavy weapons on the way back to Sittwe. There is no fighting here today,” he said.
It is not yet known if there was any damage or casualties from the regime’s midday gunfire.

Locals said junta battalions stationed in Minbya also fired heavy artillery between 8 and 9am, injuring four people and damaging six houses in Sat Ka Yay village.

“The injuries are not serious. They were hit in their hands, arms, chest and legs. They were taken to the clinic in Kyar Pit Kay for medical treatment,” they said.

The injured are U San Gore (60), U Kyin Kyan Aung (55), Daw Hnin Chay (38) and Maung Aung Naing Win (18).

Khaung Laung Chaung village was also hit by artillery shells at around 11am. on September 26th, injuring a pregnant woman, a child and a teenager.

After the two motorized barges of the regime coming from Sittwe were attacked by the Arakan Army (AA) and one of them was damaged, soldiers of the military council fired light and heavy weapons at the neighboring villages.
