Indiscriminate artillery shelling kills a woman in Hniarlawn village near Hakha

A 59-year-old woman was killed and a youth wounded by the artillery shell fired by the military council troop in Hniarlawn village in Hakha Township of Chin State on August 10th.

The military council troops indiscriminately fired heavy shells after the shooting near the minister housing and the district office where the junta soldiers were stationed at around 8 am on August 10th. The heavy shell landed on the house owned by Daw Shar Am in Hniarlawn village. She died on the spot, a local said.

“The heavy shell landed on the house while she was cooking rice in the kitchen. The heavy shell completely destroyed the kitchen and injured a youth. Now, the injured youth was admitted to the hospital. This morning, heavy shells landed twice, destroying power cables in three places, a local said.

The military council’s indiscriminate artillery shelling hit and destroyed seven houses in Hniarlawn village this morning, he added.

On July 25th, the military council troops arrived in Hniarlawn village. Salai Man Lyan Hsan, a general worker from Hniarlawn church was shot dead by the junta soldiers.

Hniarlawn village which is located about seven miles from Hakha has around 170 households.
