The Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) has strongly condemned the execution of four people, including Ko Jimmy and Phyo Zeyar Thaw by the State Administration Council (SAC).

The ICNCC statement released on July 25th clearly expresses that the military regime’s execution not only a completely rejects the will of the people who oppose the military dictatorship and want to establish a federal democratic system, but also its intention, which once again expresses its unwillingness to resolve the political situation in the country in any way other than cruel repression.

“Our council strongly condemns the actions of the coup regime. It will only strengthen the will of the people of Myanmar, including Chin people, to resist and worsen the situation in Myanmar,” the ICNCC statement said.

On July 25th, junta-run propaganda newspapers Myanmar Alin and The Mirror reported that U Kyaw Min Yu, better known by his alias Ko Jimmy, U Phyo Zeyar Thaw, U Hla Myo Aung and U Aung Thura Zaw had been executed in accordance with legal procedures.

The military council did not provide the exact date when the execution of the four was carried out. Worse, it has also not handed over the bodies or ashes to their family members.

The ICNCC said it was very shocked by the news of the execution and its thoughts were with the grieving family members and loved ones.

“We salute all those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the people of Myanmar during the Spring Revolution, including U Kyaw Min Yu, aka Ko Jimmy, U Phyo Zeyar Thaw, U Hla Myo Aung and U Aung Thura Zaw,” the ICNCC statement said.
