The junta troops are carrying out airstrikes and artillery shelling in Gangaw Township in Magway Region by cutting off internet access, a local told the Than Lwin Times.

At night on July 19th, the junta cut off internet and phone lines and conducted airstrikes in Hteelin Township and Gangaw Township.

The military carried out airstrikes at around 2 pm on July 20th and at midnight on July 21st with two helicopters.

“The military should not do that by cutting off phone lines and the internet. The military should not do it if the military designates itself as a government. The military should not commit cases against the public. We don’t accept what the military wants to do by cutting off internet access,” a local told the Than Lwin Times.

In addition, the military is carrying out the indiscriminate firing of artillery shells into Shoneshi, west Gangaw, west Zeepyar village and the northern village where the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) are stationed, with the use of 120 mm mortars via We Love Ganggaw signboard near the suspension bridge, he added.

Due to the artillery shelling, the people from Zeepyar village have fled to safer places. On July 18th, the military detained six villagers before the firing of artillery shells.

Due to the lack of internet and phone access, the extent of damages in the village and how many houses were damaged in Shoneshi and west Gangaw Township is still unknown.
The number of casualties is still unknown as the people don’t get any contact with the members of the PDF. Currently, there is no clash with the junta troops.
