The United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) reports that some of its members were killed and wounded in an airstrike launched by the State Administration Council (SAC) on its military base on the Myanmar-Thailand border at around 12 noon on July 4th.

The AA military camp in the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 5 area was attacked by two fighter jets of the Myanmar military, destroying several buildings and structures, including a hospital, a clinic and a sewing factory in the camp, the statement said.

The bombers entered Thai airspace shortly after the attack on the AA base.

Fighting between the Myanmar military and the AA intensified in Rakhine State from late 2018 to the first week of November 2020.

The two sides had reportedly agreed to an informal truce for a short period of time.

Recently, however, tensions between the two sides have escalated to the point where fighting could flare up again at any time, according to analysts on the situation in Rakhine State.
