The military-backed Pa-O National Organization (PNO) is carrying out the inspection of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) due to the fear that the People’s Defense Force (PDF) members may enter the Ponein region in Taunggyi District in southern Shan State.
Due to intense fighting between the military council and the PDFs in Karenni State, some locals fled to Hsihseng Township.
They will be allowed to stay only after being checked in accordance with nine points due to the fear that the PDFs may enter the region together with the PDFs, a local man who declined to be named from Hsainglae village in Ponein region, told the Shan Herald News.
“The IDPs will be accepted only after being checked in accord with nine points such as whether they have NRC cards, vaccination certificate and census. They fear that the PDFs may enter the region,” he added.
“The people’s militia force is formed in Pa-O Self-Administered Zone. The militia force is under the Eastern Command. The militia force urges the villages to form a 15-member force in a village for security,” he continued.
Currently, the military-backed Pa-O National Organization/Pa-O National Army (PNO/PNA) is asking for Ks-30,000 and three pyis of rice from a household and recruiting new members in Hsihseng, Pinlaung and Hopong Townships.
Currently, local youths are leaving their villages for the neighbouring country.
