Military forces local men to guard Palawkone village in Myeik District

The military council and military-backed Pyusawhtee called a meeting and forced men to stand guard at Palawkone village in Palaw Township in Myeik District, according to villagers.

A 50-year-old man said: “Refugees had to return to their homes and attend the meeting as the military threatened to seal off the houses of those who failed to attend the meeting.”

At 10 am on March 27th, the military-appointed administrator who is also a leader of military-backed Pyusawhtee and soldiers invited the villagers to the meeting. All men aged between 18 and 60 must guard the village.”

The military said except those who are performing duties under the military council, all men must guard the village, according to the villagers.

Most of the family members of the Pyusawhtee in Palawkone village are taking shelter in Myeik. On March 16th, the People’s Defense Force attacked Pyusawhtee in Palawkone village.
