Around 3,700 locals from 17 villages in Nyaunlebin District are hiding in the forests after the military council dropped four bombs in the Brigade-3 of the Karen National Union (KNU) at around 2 am on March 19th, according to the KNU’s statement.

Two bombs landed on Kweelar village in Kyaukgyi Township and two bombs on Takatpu village in Swehti Township in Nyaunglebin District.

The bombardments destroyed houses and buildings although there were no reports of casualties, according to the statement.

In addition, the villagers have to live in fear and suffer insecurity due to the military council’s bombardments. It also makes the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 Omicron variant more difficult.
