Eighteen refugees including children in Lay Kay Kaw area are infected with Omicron variant, according to the officials who are helping the refugees.
“In the recent days, the doctor tested a sick person. Then, two people tested positive. The Karen Department of Health and Welfare (KDHW) sent COVID test kits when we reported it. Yesterday, 15 out of 550 persons tested positive. Today, three more cases are detected,” an official told the KIC.
The cases are detected among the different age groups including two-year- and three-year-old children.
The patients are allocated at separate places. The officials are checking the entry and exit of people in the compound of the refugee camp.
Since February 15th, the fighting has resumed in Lay Kay Kaw.
Due to untimely rains, many refugees are sick. The refugees have to repair their makeshift tents, the officials said.
Due to the ongoing fighting and health problems, the refugees suffer depression.
They are in need of help for the repair of their makeshift tents, said those who are helping the refugees.
