The military council’s planned pre-coordination meeting on the perpetual peace talk is just a daydream. It will not become a successful meeting, said Padoh Saw Taw Nee from the Karen National Union (KNU).

“The military is a party pooper. We face hindrances through our revolution period whenever we are working on the peace processes and the federal democracy. We can implement it only when there is no military. Nothing can happen as it is a daydream. But now we have passed that stage. We will continue to work on our plans. We have a duty to overthrow the military dictatorship.”

Regarding the military council’s invitation to the pre-coordination meeting on the perpetual peace talk and the grand ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Union Day on February 6th, some ethnic armed revolutionary organizations have responded that they would not attend the meeting.

U Aung San Myint, Secretary-2 of the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) said: “We have no plan to attend it.”

Padoh Saw Taw Nee, the head of the KNU’s Foreign Affairs Department said: “It is crystal clear that we need to keep nothing in our head. Our stance is clear as the military has destroyed the entire peace process. We will go ahead.”

In its statement released on February 6th, the military council has invited both the EAOs which have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement and non-NCA signatories, except the organizations which are declared as the terrorist groups, to the pre-coordination meeting on the perpetual peace talk.

The military council said it has not set preconditions about the topics in order that both sides can exchange their views freely.

U Aung San Myint said: “The military council is facing losses on all fronts. The military council faces mounting international pressure in term of politics. I understand that the military council plans to hold that ceremony to save their dignity lost during the Spring Revolution. The military council may get many advantages over the real military ground if some EAOs accept the military council’s invitation. The military council’s invitation is related to political and military affairs.”

Although the military council has invited non-NCA signatories to the meeting in its statement, the Northern Alliance Group—the Palaung State Liberation Front/ Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA), the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) will not attend it, Brig-Gen Tar Phone Kyaw, Secretariat of the PSLF/TNLA told the Shwe Phee Myay News Agency.

In his speech to the 61st Anniversary of Kachin Revolution Day, N’ Ban La, Chair of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) said there was no plan to hold talks with the military council. He called on all ethnics armed revolutionary organizations which are revolutionizing the military council to help support the National Unity Government (NUG).

The military council has invited NCA signatories. The NCA Signatories are the Karen National Union (KNU), the Karen National Liberation Army/Peace Council (KNLA/PC), the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), the Chin National Front (CNF), the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), the Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), the New Mon State Party (NMSP) and the Lahu Democratic Union (LDU).

The military council has also invited the non-NCA signatories. They are the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) members formed with the Northern Alliance Group led by the Wa and the KNPP.
