Heavy shelling kills one, injuries two in Kanpetlet

A 30-year-old man was killed and two women injured by the military council’s indiscriminate firing of heavy weapon following the fighting between the Chinland Defense Force (CDF)- Kanpetlet and the junta troops in Kanpetlet of Chin State since around 6.30 am on January 31st, according to a local from Kanpetlet.

“Heavy shell fell on his friend’s house. It happened while he was sleeping on the upstairs of a two-storied house. The funeral service for him will be held at 3 pm today. A house owner and a woman from another ward got wounds to hands and thighs,” a local from Kanpetlet said.

The man killed in the shooting is Ko Min Yan Aung from No.2 ward in Kanpetlet Township.

Fighting took place for over 1.30 hours as the CDF-Kanpetlet attacked Yanaung Pagoda, the office of the Township Education Officer and the Township Commissioner’s office where the junta troops are stationed, on the morning of February 1st, according to the statement by the CDF-Kanpetlet.

Three soldiers of the military council were killed in the fighting. CDF-Kanpetlet could withdraw without any casualties.
