In his New Year message, General N’ ban La, Chair of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) has warned the revolutionary forces to avoid the attacks in public places.

“I would like to urge the groups which are carrying out armed resistance to the junta to avoid threats and destruction in the public areas, schools, hospitals and other non-military targets. I would like to call on them to fairly carry out their work in order that the world doesn’t take action against those who are doing revolutions against the junta,” he said.

On the morning of November 26th, teachers and students were injured in a bomb blast at the entrance of the school in Hpakant Township.

Following that incident, the KIO issued a directive dated November 28th, to closely monitor the PDFs.
According to the discussion made with the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the KIO would take responsibility for the military affairs in Kachin State during the interim period.

As the KIO has a responsibility for explosions and killings in Kachin State, the KIO will closely monitor regional People’s Defense Forces (PDFs).

The school building was destroyed by the bomb blast at the school in Moemauk Township in late June. As the people at home and abroad play their parts in the revolution, the military is now isolated, he said.

2022 shall become a successful year if the public and the KIO members do their work in the new year, with genuine goodwill, he claimed.
