A soldier from Light Infantry Battalion-336 under the military council raped a 62-year-old woman in Pharkhat village in Namphalon village-tract in Kutkai Township, at around 2 pm on November 7th, according to a local.
A local said: “Two women are working as house guards. The victim’s companion went outside to collect pig feed. She gave vegetables to three soldiers. Then, three soldiers went back. One of the three soldiers came back. The soldier dragged the woman who was basking in the sun due to illness, into the house and raped her.”
The rapist attacked two soldiers with a knife when the victim’s companion and two soldiers came back. The rapist got an injury to his head as two soldiers defended against the rapist’s knife attack.
The victim has filed a complaint to the military officials about the case. In 2016, a soldier from the military column was sentenced to 14 years in prison as he raped a 17-year-old girl in Namkywat village in Kutkai Township.
In addition, the soldiers raped and killed two women in Naungcho in Lwalkan village-tract and Namsone village in Daingari village-tract in Kutkai Township. The soldiers also took money from the victims, according to locals.
