Two men who were abducted and used by the military council’s troops as human shields from Magaungkahtaung village of Lawah village-tract in Hpakant Township, were injured in a mine attack.
A local from Magaung village said: “The military council’s troops abducted a man who went fishing and a cowman, as the human shields. The army forced them to go in front of the military column. They were injured by a mine attack en route to Karmaing.”
Two men abducted by the military council’s troop as human shields are: U Gun Aung Tan, 50 and U San Set, 40.
A local said: “The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) ambushed a military column with around 50 soldiers in Nawng Hkam Bum near Magaungkahtaung village, at around 11.30 pm. Fighting took place between the army and the KIA there.”
At least six soldiers of the military council and two victims were injured in the ambush attack.
This morning, the military council’s troops released two detainees and are stationed at the school in Magaungkahtaung village.
