The National Unity Government (NUG) could build the bases which can demolish the military council’s bullies although it was unable to crush down the military council during 100 days, said Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La, at its regular meeting-17/2021 held on August 3rd.

Especially, the interim government mechanism takes root among the public after the formation of the national unity government composed of all ethnics and gets international recognition. On the other hand, the NUG could build unity and trust with ethnic groups to overthrow the military council, Acting President Duwa Lashi La added.

The NUG’s Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than said: “The people have to lose their lives as long as the revolution faces a delay for one day. Time has come for the NUG to swiftly activate revolution and military strategies. The people are expecting the D-Day. For the country as a whole, it is an entire revolution process rather than the designation of a separate day. I would like to call on the ministers to affiliate with each other for relevant sectors needed on the real ground in each township.”

In addition, August 8th marks the 33rd anniversary of the 8888 Uprising. Since the 8888 Uprising in 1988 till the “22222” Uprising in 2021, the public have shown their constant minds that they want the democracy system instead of the military dictatorship. We all need to root out the military dictatorship under the current revolution landscape, Mahn Win Khaing Than added.

The elected candidates of the National League for Democracy (NLD) which secured the majority seat in the 2020 General Elections, formed the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) after the army staged a coup on February 1st.

With the aim of building up a federal democratic union, the CRPH abolished the 2008 Constitution drafted by the army and announced the declaration of a federal democracy charter.

The CRPH formed the interim National Unity Government composed of the majority of ethnics on April 16th.
