Four Chin youth were shot dead and buried by the military council’s troop in new Naungkat village in Htonekatin village-tract in Tamu District in Sagaing Region, at night on July 10th.
Two youth from Zalenphai village died on the spot as the military council’s troops shot six youth on Kyunpintha- Mintha village bridge while on their way back to the village at around 10 pm on July 10th. The army took three injured youth, and one youth escaped, according to locals from new Naungkat village.
On July 12th, the military council took three youth to Minthar military base and then released only one youth whose leg was injured. The army informed the families of the rest that two detainees died and were buried. The families asked for the return of dead bodies. It is still unknown where the bodies of four victims are buried, a local from new Naungkat village said.
On July 9th, the military council’s troops arrested four Kuki Chin youth from Kyunpinthar village in Tamu Township. The families of detainees are unable to meet them yet.
