In the online press conference of Karen Peace Support Network (KPSN) of today, it was stated that more than 300 civilians at Thai-Myanmar border within the territory of Karen State had escaped into Thailand due to the airstrike bombing-attack of the military junta.

“After KNLA Brigade (5), one of the subordinate parts of KNU, attacked and occupied Thaw Lal Htar (Mae San Let) Military Camp which is near Thai-Myanmar border, the military junta kept bomb-attacking through airstrikes as a response. As a consequence, the local people were escaping like this,” said Naw Kanyaw Phaw, KPSN Spokesperson.

“Yesterday around 9pm we’ve been reported that about 300 people were escaping into Thailand because of the fear of the coming bombing attack. We’ve also heard that there are new comers today. We’ve not confirmed the number yet,” said KPSN Spokesperson to KIC.

“Thai Army had listed those escapers but not arranged the foods and shelters for them,” she continued. “So the escapers themselves are making for their survival.”

“Those escapers are not only from Etu hta Village. The villagers near from the places where the confrontations happened before are also leaving their homes and escaping,” said KPSN.

“After Thaw Lal Htar (Mae San Let) Military Camp was attacked and occupied on April 27, the military junta bomb-attacked through airstrikes continuously for two days,” said KNU.

“Whilst doing airstrike, the military junta targeted attack upon the places where the local people live, not upon the occupied areas,” said KNU Brigade (5).

Likewise, after KNLA Brigade (5) attacked and occupied the State Council Army’s Thee Mu Htar Camp which is along the bank of Salween River on 27 March, State Council Army constantly bomb-attacked through airstrikes from March 27 to April 1. As a result, more than 20 civilians died, about 30 were hurt and more than 23,000 left their homes for evasion.
