A Shift from “Security” to “Peace”

Peace talks of the men mainly focused on the ‘security’ as the best approach to peace. The absence of armed conflict was the main concern in the negotiations but the root causes of the conflict, such as historical background (the traditional competition and rivalry among Bamar and ethnic groups), ideological divide (Communism, Socialism and Human Rights and Democracy) and political will (autonomy and equal rights), were not given attention in the armed men’s peace discourses.
