The Arakan Army (AA) congratulated the People’s Revolution Alliance-Magway, which is fighting the military dictatorship, a day after junta chief Min Aung Hlaing spoke of taking decisive action against the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) and some ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) supporting the resistance groups.

The congratulatory message from the Nova military region of AA on the 2nd anniversary of the establishment of the PRA-Magway, which falls on 28 March, states, “The Arakan Army congratulates the People’s Revolution Alliance-Magway, which has strong political conviction, aspirations and revolutionary convictions and enjoys the support of the people, for its actions, performance and leadership over the past two years.

In addition, AA hopes that the leaders of the PRA will continue to be an organization that contributes to the Spring Revolution, the congratulatory message said.

The DMG was still trying to reach AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha, for comment.

The PRA-Magway was formed on 28 March 2021 in Magway after the military coup and is also a group fighting against the military council in Magway to eradicate the military dictatorship.

Regional allied resistance groups, including the National Unity Government (NUG), the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA /AA) and the Bamar People’s Liberation Army (BPLA), sent congratulatory messages to the ceremony, which took place the previous day at the PRA-Magway headquarters.

There are reportedly good relations and military support between the PRA-Magway and AA as the Magway region borders Ann Township in Arakan State.

“This is a sign of support for the PRA. I think AA has established good relations with them after providing military assistance and tactics to some forces of the Spring Revolution,” said Ko Myo Lwin, a local social activist from Ann.

Reciprocally, AA has received formal messages from time to time from other resistance groups and forces of the Spring Revolution for their contribution to the revolution.

In addition, AA has reportedly given refuge to some politicians wanted by the military regime in areas under their control.
