Three civilians were killed and three others, including a child, were injured when the military council bombed Ei Naing village in Lashio Township, northern Shan State, on the morning of 14 October.
Local residents reported that the military council dropped 500-pound bombs on Ei Naing village. The aerial bombings resulted in civilian casualties and destroyed at least five homes.
A local man from Lashio said: “Three people were killed and three others were injured. A child and a woman are among the injured. All the deceased are men. The bomb direeclty hit the houses, resulting in such deaths. The indcident took place between midnight and 1 am on 14 October.”
The bombing hit and destroyed the hall and the pre-school in the compound of the church in Ei Naing village, locals said.
A town elder from Lashio said: “Some houses are severly damaged, while many others have only slight damage. I cannot express how much destruction there is. I’m not in a good mood. I feel sad. Now, even if I hear the sound of the plane, I can’t sleep and eat properly. Everyone is feeling sad.”
In addition to the intense fighting near Ei Naing village, many villagers are fleeing for safety because of the ongoing shelling and frequent aerial bombings.
However, depending on the military situation, they return to the village. When there is a military tension, they flee to safer places. This has been the case since the start of Operation 1027, the villagers said.
Residents of Lashio are condemning the military council’s airstrikes on civilian communities and public buildings.
A town elder from Lashio stated, “I don’t support the bombing of innocent people’s homes like this. I completely disagree. They shouldn’t be causing such destruction. I fully condemn their actions.”
The junta consecutively dropped three heavy bombs and four small bombs on Ei Naing village. The aerial bombings caused significant damage, destroying over 20 houses, a clinic, a church, and several public buildings.
They also resulted in the deaths of three civilians and left three others seriously injured, according to the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA)-Kokang.
