CDM Fire Force formed in Demawsoe Township

February 9th, 2022

On February 7th, 2022, the members of Demawsoe Township Fire Services Department who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) formed CDM Fire Force.

The CDM Fire Force will mainly focus on the public welfare activities, Ko Joe, a member of the CDM Fire Force told the Kantarawaddy Times.

“We have committed to serving the interest of the public as much as we can,” he added.

The Demawsoe Township CDM Fire Force was formed with some fire force members who joined the CDM. Currently the fire force has around 20 members. The fire force will carry out fire extinguishment, search and rescue operations.

The CDM fire force can perform its work only in Demawsoe Township.

“Currently, we are mainly working on the donation of water in the villages and the IDP camps which face a shortage of water. We have been carrying out water donations since June, 2021. We have two groups—one for the east and one for the west of Demawsoe Township. We donate water once in a week as the number of the IDP camps have increased,” he added.

The Fire Services Department in Karenni State joined the CDM on February 12nd, 2021.

The Demawsoe Township CDM Fire Force will affiliate with the National Unity Government (NUG), the Myanmar CDM Fire Services Staff Representative Committee, the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs), the Karenni Police, the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), philanthropic organizations, the NGOs and the INGOs.
