June 7th, 2022

Six soldiers were killed in an ambush attack on a military vehicle patrolling in Myoma ward in Demawso Township, according to the statement by the Demawso (DMO)- People’s Defense Force (PDF).

A combined force of the DMO-PDF and No.1102 Battalion of the Central Command carried out the ambush.
Fighting took place from 1 pm to 2 pm on June 5th.

“Our strategy-3 is doing surveillance. The military troops turned the car back when they saw us. We fired shots at them first. Around six soldiers were killed in the shooting. Then, the military troops went back after indiscriminate firing,” an official of the DMO-PDF told the Kantarawaddy Times.

There were no reports of any casualties from the PDF. The military council’s indiscriminate heavy shelling damaged some houses.

“The military indiscriminately fired one round of heavy shell as it suffered casualties. The military also fired one round of heavy shell when the military collected the bodies of those killed in the fighting. Heavy shelling damaged three or four houses,” an official of the DMO-PDF.

A total of 107 soldiers of the military council were killed in the fighting in Karenni State in May, according to the statement by the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF).
