Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army
was established after the Kokang army led by Peng Jiasheng split from Burma Communist Party and signed a ceasefi re agreement with State Law and Order Restoration Council in
1989. Kokang region became Shan state special region (1) after MNDAA signed a ceasefire agreement. However, when 20 years later, Myanmar army attacked MNDAA in Laukkai
on 27 September 2009 after MNDAA rejected to transform into Border Guard Force (BGF).
Kokang army split two factions after Myanmar army captured Laukkai. One faction could
successfully transform into BGF 1006 and another faction led by Peng Jiasheng went underground. MNDAA has become a UNFC and NCCT member in 2013. Currently, MNDAA joined The Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee(FPNCC) in April 2017.  In 2015, withdraw from the NCCT and June the same year officially withdrew from the UNFC. In June 2017, officially resigned from UNFC.
